Beaches
With a body of water on each side of us, we have a lot of beaches! Most require a parking permit in the summer. Click here for complete beach descriptions.

Golf
The North Fork Country Club and Laurel Links are the private clubs in the area, but there are several courses open to the public, offering courses for the avid golfer or one just out for a fun day.

Tennis
There are numerous public tennis courts available for free play. The best are at Tasker Park and Cochran Park across the street from each other on Peconic Lane in Peconic and at Mattituck High School.

Fishing
The North Fork is well known for fantastic fishing. Anglers fishing the waters of the North Fork region are often rewarded with catches of large fluke, monster bluefish, blackfish, and trophy-sized striped bass.

Bicycling

You don’t need to ride on the highways! I’ve spent a lot of time riding out here, so feel free to contact me if you need other ideas on bike routes.

A fine place to buy a bike or accessories or to have your bike serviced. Excellent staff.

Hiking
You won’t find any hills, but there are some pretty walks, most of which are short and easy enough to bring along even little kids. A few can be found under “Local Places of Interest” on the Southold Town website. Another good one is at the North Fork Audubon Society on the North Road in Greenport. |

Volleyball
Public Courts
Public beach volleyball courts are available at Breakwater Beach Park in Mattituck on Long Island Sound. Courts are open to the public except when being used by leagues on Monday and Wednesday nights. Bring your own lines!
