Real estate is the most recent stop on a sales odyssey that started when I was 9 years old and sold lemonade and Chips Ahoy cookies at a stand in front of my house in White Plains. From that humble beginning, I moved on to a successful career in investment banking, primarily with UBS, that took me to Hong Kong and Bangkok for 8 years before I returned to New York to head the Institutional Sales desk for Asian products. Four years later, I was ready for a new challenge, and after getting my Masters at NYU, I became the history teacher for 7th and 8th grade students at Trevor Day School in Manhattan (and believe me, teaching 12-14 year-olds is the toughest sales job I’ve ever had!).

After the birth of our first son, Hudson, in 2002, my lovely wife, Liz, and I moved out to the beautiful countryside that is the North Fork. I concentrated most of my efforts on fatherhood, especially after Quincy was born two years later, but still found time for nonprofit work. I became Development Director for one organization and a trustee of another. I even found time to write two books, a memoir, Running with the Bulls, and a novel, The Acquisition of Happiness. But after determining that I missed the excitement of the business world, I decided that I would focus on trying to introduce people to the North Fork, both its beauty and its lifestyle, in the expectation that they would love it as much as my family has and want to own a house here. Launching my real estate career at Prudential Douglas Elliman, the #1 broker on the North Fork, the East End of Long Island, on Long Island as a whole, and in the Greater New York area, was a no-brainer.
Though I don’t have years and years of experience in real estate sales, I do have over a decade of sales experience serving the toughest and most discriminating of clients (now I’m talking about investment managers, not middle school students). I’ll listen to your needs, devise a plan to help you accomplish your goals, and then follow through until we achieve them, emphasizing smooth communication every step of the way. And I absolutely, positively will not waste your valuable time.
I’ve been fortunate to enjoy some outstanding educational experiences at Bowdoin College (B.A.), the London School of Economics (General Course), and New York University (Masters in Education) and though my school days are probably done, I consider learning to be a lifelong pursuit. When not feeding my mind or playing with my three children (Phoebe, our sweet 9-month old, was the final addition), I play in the North Fork Beach Volleyball League, ride my bike all over the North Fork, and paddle my kayak in Long Island Sound. If you haven’t experienced Wine Country by the Sea, come check it out. I think you’ll find it to be a truly special place. |
